Heater Specifications..................................................................................................................................10
1. My heater won’t turn on?
Make sure the power source is good. Plug
in a lamp to see if it works correctly.
Make sure the front power switch is set
to the “ON” position.
Turn the thermostat dial left until it
stops and then turn it to the right until it stops. You should have heard a
click. Continue to the next step if you heard a click. If you didn’t hear a
click, try resetting the thermostat. (see Resetting the Thermostat, page 9)
Remember, it will take a few minutes for
the heater to warm up. The fan will start to blow after the heater has warmed
up.
Note: If your heater has been stored in a
freezing or near freezing environment you might not hear the thermostat dial
click. Bring the heater inside to warm up for a short while before operating.
If you still don’t hear the click, see Resetting the Thermostat, page 9.
2. My heater isn’t shutting off?
Did you try turning down the thermostat a
few degrees? It’s not an exact thermostat
How many square feet is the room you are
using it in?
Suggest experimenting with the
thermostat.
Have them turn the thermostat dial until
it clicks. Where is the dial pointing when it clicks? It shouldn’t be pointing
to far left or right. If it is they may need to reset the thermostat (see
Resetting the Thermostat, page 9).
3. My heater isn’t heating the room properly?
Try placing the heater on an interior
wall?
Are you using it in conjunction with your
furnace?
What type of floor is the heater on?
(Cement, tile, etc are porous surfaces that can absorb a lot of the heat)
Is the room well insulated? A room with
little insulation or many windows will not retain a lot of the heat.
4. Why does the blower fan keep running after I
have turned off the rocker switch?
The Blower Fan will continue to
run until the proprietary heat chambers have cooled down. After a few minutes
the fan will shut off automatically.
5. What is the warranty on
the heater?
The SunTwin Heaters have a
1-year warranty. If the original order was shipped from our facility within 30
days, we will pay shipping both ways. Within 31-60 days the customer will pay
shipping repair or replacement.
Shipping will be paid to return shipping to the customer. After 61 days the
customer will be responsible for shipping expensed incurred both ways.
6. Can the heating elements be replaced?
Yes. The unit
does carry a 1-year warranty so if at any time during this period something
would happen with the unit we will replace/repair your unit. After the warranty
period you would need to contact our company so that we can advise you of the
replacement procedures at that time.
7. What is
the life expectancy for the Quartz Elements?
Average
element life is 5000+ hours or approximately 3 to 5 years.
8. My
thermostat setting is higher/lower than I want it to be?
All Bi-Metal
Mechanical Line Voltage thermostats are less accurate than digital thermostats,
yet they are more durable. Pre-set dial placement and a differential rating of
+/- 3 degrees also play a role in accuracy. This is absolutely normal and
consistent with all Bi-Metal Mechanical Line Voltage thermostats. If the heater
is maintaining your comfort level, it is working correctly. Your thermostat may
need to be recalibrated due to being jostled around in shipping or other uncontrollable
factors such as altitude which could alter the preset calibration. For example;
the room temperature is 65º F but the thermostat dial clicks on or off when
pointing at 50º F. You may want to reset the thermostat dial to click on or off
when pointing at 65º F. If this describes your situation you may want to reset
the thermostat (see Resetting the Thermostat, page 9).
9. My power
cord or plug is hot?
This is
usually when the cord is plugged into a loose fitting receptacle. It can also
be caused by overloading the circuit with more appliances than recommended,
using an unapproved extension cord, plug adapter, or power strip.
10. Can I
use a surge protector or power strip with my heater?
NO. It is
designed to plug directly into a grounded 110 volt 15 amp or higher circuit
receptacle.
11. Can I
use an extension cord with my heater?
Avoid the use
of extension cords because the extension cord may overheat and cause a risk of
fire, however if you have to use an extension cord, the cord shall be no. 14awg
minimum size and rated not less than 1875 watts. The extension cord shall be a
3 wire cord with a grounding type cord and plug connector.
12. I don’t
have a grounded outlet; can I use a cord adapter or remove the grounding plug?
NO. If you
don’t have a grounded outlet, contact a licensed electrician in your area for
advice. Removing or altering any part of the heater will void the warranty.
3
13. Can I
use the heater and another appliance at the same time?
Yes, as long
as they are not on the same circuit. Zone heaters are considered to be an
appliance. You should not run more than one larger appliance on a single
circuit breaker. Your freezer, refrigerator, microwave oven, washing machine,
dryer, and other such appliances should not share a circuit breaker.
14. Can I
use more than one heater at a time?
Yes, but you
should make sure they are not on the same circuit. Each heater and appliance
should be on its own circuit.
15. Can I
move the heater around while it is operating?
It is not
recommended to move any portable heater while it is operating. We recommend
moving the heater once the fan has completely turned off.
16. How
many kilowatts per hour does the heater use?
Heater models
1000, and 1000 LED were tested by an
independent lab in a home environment and determined to use 1.263 kilowatts per
hour. Heater models 500 and 750 use approximately half the kilowatts per hour
as the 1000, 1500, and LED models.
17. What is
the BTU Rating for the heaters?
First tell the
customer the BTUs are:
Model 1000, 1500 LED heaters are approximately 5000
BTUs.
VERY IMPORTANT-You must follow up by saying that the BTU rating is
insignificant and you cannot compare BTUs to other types of heaters on the
market.
If the
customer asks why then you can proceed as follows: The BTUs are basically
irrelevant as a unit of measure since the patented heating process of the Sun
Twin INTENTIONALLY does not operate using old inefficient methods of heat
combustion, which is rated by using the BTU rule.
SunTwin incorporates a soft heat exchange
process using infrared quartz technology coupled with a “patented” heat
exchange process by using all natural heat treated copper “heat exchange”
chambers. This patented heating process is a complete departure from traditional
methods due to NOT using typical burning heat sources to heat. Therefore, the
BTU rating method is not a legitimate comparison since this soft heat process
is totally different than conventional combustion type heat. Our heating method
is far superior for efficiency, safety, and comfort while providing a natural
healthy indoor environment.
18. Is the
heater UL Approved?
We are
currently working on obtaining UL Approval; however most components in the unit
are already UL Approved.
19. Does
the heater have an A-1 Insurance Rating or Safety Rating?
NO, but the
heater was tested by multiple independent labs and considered to be a safe
product.
20. Is the heater harmful to pets and/or children?
NO.
21. The
heater’s airflow seems to have diminished?
Make sure the
rear intake is not blocked and that the filter is clean. Follow the Filter
Maintenance procedure. (see # 22)
22. Do the
heaters have filters? How do I clean the filter?
The
SunTwin heaters come equipped with a washable lifetime filter which is easy to
clean. The manufacturer recommends the filter be cleaned once a month or as
needed. To do this, follow these steps:
1) Pull up on the latches on each
side of the filter to release the filter. Remove it from the rear of the unit
by tilting out and lifting up at the same time.
2) Run warm tap water over the
filter, the opposite direction of air flow, until water runs clear. The filter
might excrete some filtered residue, so be cautious not to drip on any
stainable surfaces such as carpeting. You can also soak the filter in water
mixed with a small amount of mild dish soap (don’t forget to rinse with water
after soaking filter).
3) Shake the filter over a sink until
excess water is removed and allow it to drip dry completely before reinstalling.
DO NOT force the filter to dry using any alternative methods.
4) Reinstall the filter to the rear
of the unit and secure side latches by raising them up and locking them down in
place.
23. How
long has the unit been on the market?
The technology
of this unit has been on the market for approximately 25 years, we have since
re-engineered
the heater to increase efficiency and heat output.
24. Where
can I view the heater information online?
For heater
information only for www.GlobalPureSolutions.com
25. Does
the heater generate ions?
Yes, a small
amount of negative ions.
26. What is ABS?
ABS is a heat
resistant copolymer (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene).
27. Do the
heaters have wheels?
The SunTwin
1500 and SunTwin LED both have wheels.
28. How is
this heater different from others I have heard about?
The SunTwin
heaters heat with uniformed pressure. The heat goes from wall to wall, floor to
ceiling. It will not reduce humidity or oxygen in the room or put toxins into
the room. It also uses electricity to generate infrared light, which creates a
very safe heat that will not reach a burning temperature. The unit uses up to
35% - 50% less energy than other heating methods to create this safe heat.
29. Where
is the heater made?
The SunTwin
heaters are manufactured overseas. We have several different manufacturing
plants in Asia.
30. Does
the heater have a thermostat?
Yes, the
heater has a Honeywell thermostat that ranges from low to high.
(If the
customer persists --- 40 to 80 degrees).
31. How
loud should my heater be?
The heater
noise was measured at 49.9 DBA (decibels) during independent lab testing. The
League for the Hard of Hearing provided a report showing the typical DBS’s for
items found in a home:
