Frequently
Asked Questions
What is an Ozone alert?
Ozone is used as an indicator of
pollution. Ozone alerts in cities are a result of high pollution levels of
hydrocarbons, produced by the burning of fossil fuels. When ultraviolet rays
from the sun strike the hydrocarbons, Ozone (03) is one of the by-products.
Ozone is more easily detected and is used as a reference point for the level of
pollution.
Is Ozone Safe?
Yes, but as with anything, moderation is
the key. Ozone in very high concentrations can be irritating to mucous
membranes and the respiratory system. We believe the PURATRON produces
safe and moderate amounts of Ozone.
Does the PURATRON INDOOR
ATMOSPHERE SYSTEM produce ions?
Yes. The unit uses a powerful,
revolutionary dual wick Negative Ion Generator to produce a wall of ions that
causes particulate to magnetize together and drop out of your breathing space.
Most of the particles found in our indoor air carry a positive charge. By
producing large quantities of negative ions, the unit helps those particles to
clump together and fall out of the air.
Are Negative Ions
harmful?
There are no known harmful effects from
ionization. Negative ions are found in large quantities around waterfalls,
ocean waves and in thunderstorms, all of which seem to have soothing qualities.
I have had air systems
that made my wall black around the area it was located. Will the PurAtron do
the same thing?
What is the reason for
this happening?
The “black wall” effect is due to an
extreme negative ionizer that electroplates the walls with a negative charge.
This brings the particulate back to the air unit and makes it cling to the
wall. Sometimes this is impossible to clean and consumers are forced to paint
the wall to remove the darkness. The PurAtron provides a subtle balance of
positive and negative ions and does not make a wall black. The PurAtron charges
the particulate, drawing it together and becoming so heavy that it settles from
your breathing space. With the access weight the particulate is much easier to
remove from your environment.
What does the PURATRON
do?
It helps purify the air in your home or
office by reducing pollutants and leaving your air with a clean and crisp
feeling…some say it gives the indoor environment a mountain-top freshness.
How does the system
purify the air?
The
will electronically encourage the same effective cleansing agents that
nature uses to purify the air…Negative Ions with a proper balance of positive
ions, activated oxygen, and a subtle controlled breeze generated by the whisper
quiet fan.
How does nature produce
Ozone?
Ozone is created electrically during
active thunderstorms and nitrogen oxides and ultraviolet rays from the sun. The
electrical discharge creates a sweet smell most associate with “fresh air.”
How do I know the
machine is working?
Your nose doesn’t lie. Ozone has a very
distinctive smell that you control from the front of the system. You create
your own atmosphere! You should notice a very “fresh”, clean smell in your home
or office with less particulate in the air you breathe. Look for dust through a
beam of light after a few days to see for yourself.
How does the compare to
air filters?
THE PURATRON does not rely on the
air to actually pass through the machine to be cleaned or replaced like
conventional air filters. It’s not a filter. Remember that nature doesn’t have
a filter in the sky…we believe that the unit is duplicating the natural process
found outdoors!
Where should I place the
system?
It should be placed in the room where you
have the most pollutants or as close to a return air duct vent as possible. The
PurAtron has a user-friendly remote control, making your adjustment very easy
and convenient. It is very easy to move so you might want to try it in a couple
of locations to help decide what works best for your environment. Some
customers prefer to have more than one unit to better control levels of
activated oxygen in the home. For best results, place the unit up high in a
central location and face toward a return vent that will distribute your “fresh
air” throughout your environment.
What type of maintenance
is required?
When you no longer can smell the
“freshness” that has become familiar to you it is time to clean your unit. The
length of time between cleanings will vary due to the severity of your air. For
cleaning the Ozone plate, simply turn the unit off and unplug it. From the back
of the unit, firmly grasp and pull the plate out. Support plate in hand or on a
firm surface. Using a scrub brush, along with either a grease cutting detergent
or ammonia, scrub metal wires on plate until clean. Rinse in warm water and dry
completely. Reinstall plate in direction of arrows. It’s that simple. For
convenience, you may want to purchase an extra
plate. Please refer to your “Owner’s Manual” for more details of
operation, maintenance, and user options.
